A great time was had by all at the arts festival. We brought the sun with us and a few folk even came home with a tan! There was the usual range of interesting artwork on display and many of the exhibits proved very inspiring, especially Dawn Rossiter’s gelli plate prints. Look out for a workshop on making your own gelli plate!!
Cath managed a selfie with celebrity Phil Jupitus, who was exhibiting his Russian Constuctivist – style digital prints, made humorous by the addition of kitsch images from cinema and t.v.
Gus was particularly inspired by the work of Karen Rae; detailed compositions with clockwork/ mechanical themes. Jennifer Mackie’s loose portraits of people and animals were also a big hit.
Gillian liked the ceramics of Hilke MacIntyre. She produces busy, little groups of figures with simplified shapes which reflect everyday life.
All in all, it was a terrific day. Thanks to all who helped make it happen!
